World football’s governing body, FIFA has thrown out the appeal by Uruguayan striker, Luis Suarez over his ban for biting an Italian opponent during their World Cup group match.
The Appeal Committee yesterday said, Suarez will serve his ban to the end as ruled by the Disciplinary Committee on June 25.
The terms of the decision taken by the FIFA Appeal Committee were communicated to the player and the Uruguayan FA today.
The relevant decision is not yet final and binding, as the player and the Uruguayan FA still have the right to lodge an appeal with the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) under Article 67 par. 1 of the FIFA Statutes).
Last June 25, Suarez was banned four months, nine matches and fined heftily for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini.
Suarez escaped punishment from the referee but the Disciplinary Committee reviewed the case, ruled the striker had committed an offence and punished him accordingly.
The striker, initially denying the bite, later apologised to the Italian, promising the world he will never bite again.
