Ghana coach, James Kwasi Appiah, has served notice that the Black Stars are out to spring surprises at the FIFA World Cup and are determined to go to Brazil.
The soft-spoken coach gave the assurance at a ceremony held by flag-waving and chanting Ghanaians who welcomed a contingent of players and officials of the Black Stars, led by the Ghana Football Associacian (GFA) boss, Kwesi Nyantakyi, at the Miami International Airport last Sunday night for their final training tour.
The Stars have since plunged into serious preparations for their last international friendly against South Korea at the Miami Sun Life Stadium on Monday, prior to their opening Group G match against USA in Natal on June 16.
The Stars coach described Ghana’s 0-1 loss to Holland in a similar friendly in Rotterdam last Saturday as a useful exercise for his team.
He, however, promised to correct the team’s mistakes in the days ahead in preparation for their Group G opponents — Germany, Portugal and the United States.
"We shall be ready for all our opponents and not just the Americans. The motivation in camp is very high, and we will live up to expectation in Brazil," Coach Appiah assured the welcoming party.
In his brief remarks, the captain of the Stars, Asamoah Gyan, said the players were very happy to see Ghanaians come out in their numbers to show them so much love and support by singing, chanting and waving the national flag.
He revealed that morale in camp was very high and that they would live up to expectation.
On his part, the GFA president said nothing was being left to chance to ensure that Ghana made history in Brazil by becoming the first African country in World Cup history to advance to the last four.
