German club FC Schalke 04 have terminated the contract of Ghana international Kevin Prince Boateng with immediate effect in what looks like a disciplinary measure from the management.
In the statement released on the club's website: "Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt announced there would be consequences after Sunday’s 1-0 away defeat to FC Koln and the first action has been taken: Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sidney Sam have been released with immediate effect. Marco Hoger is suspended from training and first-team action up to and including Saturday, 16th May.”
Heldt further said: “There is no relationship of trust with Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sam anymore”, however, their contracts appear to be intact until a final decision is taken on how they would be offloaded.
Boateng's future with the Royal Blues had already been up in the air after injury and poor form forced him losing his place in the first team to Max Mayer.
Boateng also suffered a poor World Cup in 2014 where he was sent home for abusing Ghana national team coach Kwesi Appiah.
