Renard hangs Zambia’s hopes on Lesotho miracle against Ghana

Herve RenardZambia coach Herve Renard believes his Chipolopolo side failed their Brazil 2014 dreams and have no excuse for drawing against Sudan.
Bottom placed Sudan came back to share the points with leaders Zambia Saturday in the two sides’ 2014 World Cup Group D qualifier to finish 1-1 in a grudge match played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

The match was the second leg of their controversial first leg meeting in Khartoum on June 2, 2012 when Sudan lost the three points for using an ineligible player in their 2-0 win over Zambia on that date.

The draw has dimmed Group D Zambia's hopes of advancing to the final qualifying stage of the 2014 Brazil final with just two points separating them from second placed Ghana.

"We do not have any excuse. We failed when we drew 1-1," Renard said.

Renard said they were now banking on Lesotho to produce a miracle result on Sunday at home in Maseru when they host Ghana with the latter needing a win to replace Zambia at the top of Group D.

"We have to wait for the result of Ghana tomorrow then we will see how our team will be," Renard said.

"I hope Lesotho will play the same game like Sudan played today."

Zambia are on 11 points, two more than Ghana whom they face in the final Group D decider this September in Kumasi.
