Ghana's Under-20 side, the Black Princesses, will begin their quest for a place at next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup (WWC) with their first qualifying match against Guinea Bissau next month.
The Princesses, who are set to start their preparations later this week, will host the first game on October 25-27 before travelling to Guinea Bissau for the return leg on November 8-9, 2013.
Victory for the Princesses will pitch them against Egypt in the second round in another two-leg tie on December 6-8 with the return encounter on December 20-22.
Further wins against Egypt will send the Princesses to the final round of the qualifier to be played on January 10-12 and again on January 24-26, 2014 to select one of the three representatives from Africa for the 2014 U-20 WWC slated for Canada in August.
The senior team, the Black Queens, will meanwhile, face Burkina Faso in their preliminary campaign to secure a place for next year’s African Women’s Championship (AWC) to be staged in Namibia.
The queens, who missed out on the last edition of the competition, will play away to the Burkinabes on the weekend of February 13-15, 2014 before hosting the return leg on the weekend of February 28 to March 2, 2014.
Should the queens advance to the next stage, they will join teams such as Nigeria, Cameroun, South Africa and Equatorial Guinea who all drew a bye.
