It appears a done deal by the Board of Directors of Accra Hearts of Oak, its controversial decision to throw out the performing coach of the club, David Duncan.
In spite of appeals and the agitation by the club’s supporters to let Duncan stay put, the Graphic Sports can today report that the board has pencilled in Mohammed Ahmed Polo for the technical headship of the club.
Until any change of mind by the Togbe Afede XIV-led board, the former Hearts dribbling magician and founder of the Polo Soccer Academy, is set to take over the coaching of the Premier Club, currently lying second on the GPL log.
Ahmed Polo, who confirmed to the Graphic Sports yesterday about the board’s contact with him on the boiling issue, said he would not shy away from the appointment.
‘’Indeed, the board contacted me to come to Macedonia and help and my response was in the affirmative.
‘’However, since the initial contact I have not heard from the board again. But I am ready to accept the offer to coach my former club now or in the future’’, the club’s one-time scorer of important goals noted.
If appointed, it will be the second time that Polo will be handling the club that brought him to national and international fame as a footballer in the early 70s through to the 80s.
Polo’s first coaching stint with Hearts was in the mid-90s, but that was shortlived following some misunderstanding with his employers then.
He was, however, quick to deflect a similar situation recurring, saying:’’We are growing and piping down. The experiences gathered along the way will best guide us’’.
