Police Ladies still lead pack

This year’s National Women’s League (NWL) will certainly generate a lot of excitement and witness keener competition as the teams continue to vie for positions in the league standings.

After Match Day 2 actitivities, debutantes, Police Ladies continued their winning ways, recording an important 2-1 away win against Lady Strikers at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast.

This win, following right at the heels of the 13-0 win over Ayola on the opening day, keeps Po lice at the top of the league standings on better goals aggregate.

They are hotly pursued by defending champions, Hasaacas Ladies who also won 2-1 against Immigration Ladies at the Essipon Stadium Annex.

Though Hasaacas claimed all three points, they struggled to maintain their vintage performance and could face a tough challenge in Police this season.

It is early days yet, but Ayola who avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth last season, may not be that lucky this time around as their miserable run continued with a heavy 0-4 home loss to Soccer  Intellectuals.

In the Northern Zone, it is a tight race as Fabulous Ladies, Ashtown Ladies are neck-and-neck at the top with four points after they both recorded 2-0 wins in their home games against Prisons Ladies and Oforikrom Ladies respectively.

Ampem Darkoa also snatched a point away from Bolga Sharp Arrows in a 1-1 drawn game.
