Ghana central defender, Jonathan Mensah, has stated that that the Black Stars played their hearts out against Cote d’Ivoire, but could not fashion out a win.
His comment comes after Cote d’Ivoire pipped Ghana to the AFCON 2015 trophy with a 9-8 win on penalties.
Both sides had earlier played out a barren 120 minutes.
Commenting on his Facebook page Monday, Mensah said he was proud of the performances of his teammates.
“We applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand. It wasn't our day,” he stated.
The Galliard FC player also thanked Ghanaians for supporting the team, adding, “Our time will come”.
