Bibiani Gold Stars’ sensational striker, Elvis Opoku, has disclosed that he is close to signing for Ashantigold after an outstanding season in the 2013/2014 MTN FA Cup.
Opoku, who won both the Top Scorer and Best Goal of the Year awards at last Saturday’s MTN FA Cup, is looking forward to joining a Premier League side in the upcoming season.
He told the Daily Graphic that many clubs such as Aduana Stars, Kotoko, Medeama and Ashantigold had all expressed interest in him.
“I am confirming to you that there are several Premier League clubs after me but a move to Ashantigold is very close,” he said.
Asked why he preferred Ashantigold to the other clubs, the prolific striker explained that he chose the Miners because that was the club he had supported since childhood.
“Ashantigold is a club I really love and cherish so I would not want to lose the opportunity of playing for them,” Opoku added.
The youngster banged in seven goals to top the MTN FA Cup scorers’ chart while his screamer against Hearts of Oak at Bibiani was adjudged the best goal of the tournament.
