Former premiership sides, Okwawu United and Sekondi Hasaacas, have qualified for the Division One Middle League alongside three others as the scramble for the final slots reaches a crescendo.

Guan United and Yassin FC of Zone 1A, and Danbort FC of Zone 3B have also booked their places alongside Okwawu and Hasaacas, with the seven remaining slots up for grabs on the final match day.

Bechem United, B.A. Stars and Bofoakwa of Zone 1B, Gold Stars, Tarkwa United and Dunkwa United of Zone 2A, Eleven Wise, Metro Stars and even Elmina Sharks of Zone 2B, and Nania FC, Inter Allies and Istanbul of Zone 3A are in contention for the slots in their respective zones as the curtain is set to be drawn on the zonal leagues this weekend.

Okwawu stand atop Zone 3B with 25 points, with Danbort in second place on 24 points. With Mighty Jets a distant third on 20 points, the pair of Okwawu and Danbort have opened an unassailable advantage ahead of the final matches in the zone.

It is a similar case in Zone 1A where Guan United (on 22 points) and Yassin FC (on 20 points) are assured of their Middle League places as not even third-placed Bazooka FC (on 15 points) can catch up with them.

For Hasaacas, their 26 points so far is a massive lead over joint second-placed Eleven Wise and Metro Stars who are both on 20 points. But both Wise and Metro have almost the same chance as fourth-placed Elmina Sharks (on 19 points) can surpass the two at the finishing line.

Nania FC and Inter Allies are tied atop Zone 3A on 21 points apiece, while Istanbul have 18 points in third place. The highlight of the zone is the reality that Great Olympics will certainly miss the middle league although they have fought to over one their initial relegation troubles.
