Ghana’s Under-23 male football team, the Black Meteors, will this weekend host their Mozambican counterparts at the Accra Sports Stadium in the second leg of their All Africa Games (AAG) qualifiers.
The Meteors, who won the 2011 edition of the AAG, are hoping to overturn the 0-1 loss they suffered in Maputo in the first leg three weeks ago.
The AAG defending champions were heading for a goalless draw in the first leg when a late own goal by Kojo Poku secured a win for the hosts.
After three weeks of correcting their mistakes from the first leg, Coach Malik Jabir says his charges are ready for the second leg.
“I think we are ready for the game on Saturday. We have corrected our mistakes from the first leg and we are psyched up for a good result in the second leg,” Coach Jabir told the Daily Graphic.
While the Meteors play in Accra, the Black Queens will also be in Harare for the second leg of the same qualifiers against Zimbabwe.
The Queens recorded a narrow 2-1 win in the first leg in Accra and must hold on to that lead or secure a draw in the second leg to progress in the qualifiers.
The Queens are expected to leave for Harare this evening.
