Defending MTN FA Cup champions Medeama SC will begin the defence of their title with an all-premiership encounter involving Liberty Professionals at the Tarkwa T&A park.
The match between the MTN FA Cup holders and Liberty was the standout tie for the Round of 64 draw for the competition which was held yesterday at the headquarters of the tournament title sponsor, MTN House in Accra.
Other interesting pairings will see last year's losing finalists, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, travel to engage A.K Shion FC while Wassaman United will attempt to halt the juggernaut of league leaders, Accra Hearts of Oak, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
In an address before the draw was conducted, the Corporate Services Executive of MTN, Cynthia Lumor said she was looking forward to interesting pairings which would motivate football fans to throng match venues.
She also acknowledged the important role football has played in Ghanaian communities stating that the MTN FA Cup had over the years presented lower-tier sides with the opportunity to excel against the best teams in the country.
The GFA president, Kwesi Nyantakyi, expressed gratitude to the sponsors who he credited with ensuring that the tourney which is in it's sixth year since being relaunched has survived the test of time.
Mr Nyantakyi also assured the sponsors that his outfit will continue to reciprocate their support by doing things that will not affect the brand negatively.
Other pairing of the Round of 64 expected to take place between March 25-27, league champions Ashgold will play Sun City FC, Techiman City engage Aduana Stars, Wa All Stars face Berekum Arsenals, high-flying West Africa Football Academy lock horns with Efutu Great Kinedy FC, Ebusua Dwarfs host Eleven Wise FC, Steadfast FC welcome Berekum FC, Bechem United versus Paga Japan Stars FC, Rainbow FC versus Real Tamale United, New Edubiase United travel to play AC MIlan FC and Okwawu United clash with Dreams FC.
In other fixtures, Sekondi Hasaacas travel to play Holy Stars, Emmanuel FC host Kade United, Crystal Palace play undefeated Inter Allies, Kotoku Royals contend with Vision FC, Elmina Sharks play GReat Astronomers in a local derby, Dunkwa United engage Heart of Lions, the winner of the preliminary stage tie between Ho Hunters FC and Red Lions FC will book a date with Okyeman Planners FC, Karela United face Sporting Mirren, Mighty Royals meet True Democracy FC, Wamanafo Mighty Royals play host to King Faisal FC, S.T.K.
