The second leg of the friendly match between Great Mawuena Ladies FC of Town Council Line and retired national women’s footballers will take place at Town Council Line this afternoon at 3p.m.
In the first leg of the match played on November 16,last year, Great Mawuena Ladies pipped the former Black Queens players by a goal to nil in a fierce competition.
According to Francis Kudah, founder of Great Mawuena Ladies and organiser of the match, former Black Queens captain Grace Adjoa Bayor, general captain Genevieve Clottey and former FIFA referee Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo will feature in today’s clash.
He told the Daily Graphic that other national players to feature for the retired women’s team included Anita Owuredu-Minta, Shilla Okai, Lydia Ankrah, Gifty Lartey and Diana Mills.
The home team will feature goalkeeper Mary Quarcoo, Faustina Aidoo and Rita Darko, a member of the Black Princesses team who played in the FIFA under-20 women’s world cup in Canada last year.
A curtain-raiser between Great Mawuena Under-12 boys team and BASA FC Under-12 boys from Manbrouk in Ablekuma Central will be played at 2p.m before the ceremonial match.
The match will be graced by the chief of Town Council Line, Mallam Mohammed Mohamadu, Madam Florence Ocloo, Chairperson of Great Mawuena Ladies FC and Sergeant Akunor Bright of the Mamprobi District Police.
