Liberty Professionals maintained their winning ways by beating Amidaus Professionals 2-1 at the Carl Reindorf park at Dansoman to continue their climb from the relegation zone.
Goals from Cissey Mohammed and Kennedy Ashia in the 24th and 66th minutes respectively were all Liberty needed to collect the three maximum points to move up to the ninth spot on the league log.
Liberty played before a sizeable crowd and took the game to the visitors with skipper Ashia, Daniel Kordie and Michael Appiah in the thick of affairs.
In one of their incursions into the Amidaus goal area, Anthony Nimo flicked the ball onto the path of onrushing Cissey to head home the opener amidst spontaneous cheers from the home fans.
The visitors fought back strongly and briefly took over the midfield pinning the home side to their half. That effort saw Amidaus’ cancelling the lead in the 33rd minute, after Kwadwo Acquah laid a through pass to Daniel Gozar, who controlled the ball and unleashed a thunderbolt past the Amidaus goalie for the equalising goal.
Liberty were more purposeful in the second half and kept pushing for another goal with the duo of Cissey and Ashia causing a lot of trouble for the visitors. In one of their predatory attacks, Cissey sprinted with the ball down the flanks before releasing a pass to unmarked Ashia who fired into an unguarded net for the winning goal.
