Liberty coach blames defence

Liberty Professionals head coach, George Lamptey, has blamed his central defensive pair of Alfred Nelsen and Frimpong Tuffour for blunders that caused his side’s defeat to Accra Hearts of Oak last Wednesday.

Hearts beat their city rivals 2-0, and Coach Lamptey, speaking with Graphic Sports after his team conceded two goals in the opening three minutes of the league clash, said, “I conceded two early goals, one was a defensive blunder and the other a penalty.

“I psyched the defence afterwards so we didn’t give away any more goals, but when you give away two early goals in football the other team will most definitely sit back.”

He added that, “I believe my team returned the better side after the break but we couldn’t create clear cut goal scoring chances”.

Coach Lamptey believed Liberty, who are currently ninth on the league log, would certainly bounce back from this set-back against New Edubiase United on Sunday.
