Ghana's Black Princesses have the last chance to save their FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup when they play Finland in the final group game in Montreal at midnight.
The national Under-20 female football team, with only three points, have to beat Finland and pray North Korea also beat Canada so they can advance to the quarter-finals of this competition for the first time.
It is not only in Group A that there is a scramble for quarter-final slots. In Group B, there is all to play for as all four teams — Germany, USA, China and Brazil have a chance to advance, even though Brazil, trailing in the standings with only a point, have a very faint chance.
While it will be interesting to see how Group B will play out, it is the Group A matches that will attract the most attention as the home fans will be out to urge their team on in Moncton.
Both Canada and Ghana are tied on three points, but Canada are on top because of their superior goals, which could prove decisive if they both win.
It is dicey for both teams even though a draw result could be good for Canada, if the Ghana-Finland game also ends in a draw.
However, it is the Princesses who are more at risk as Finland, with nothing to lose but pride to salvage, are most certain to come all out to, at least, bow out with a win.
To ensure a win for the Princesses, Coach Bashir Hayford must abandon his 'one top striking plan which he played in the previous matches. He must opt for more attacking options as the Koreans and Canadians proved that was the only way to pin down the Finns.
In Group B, it looks more like a Germany and USA affair even though the Americans will have to be wary of the Chinese who held the Germans to a thrilling 5-5 draw in the second game.
With two points, a win for the Chinese will end the campaign of the Americans like they suffered in Germany 2010 and it will be up to them to clip the Steel Roses who seem to have been reinvigorated, considering their poor performance two years ago.
It is Germany's game to win against Brazil but the Brazilians, disappointed by their performance and results at this competition, may want to make amends in this final group game and that could be trouble for the Germans whose defensive weaknesses were exposed in their second group game.
