After losing four matches on the trot, including yesterday's 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Ashantigold coach Bashir Hayford said he would not be surprised if he was fired today.
“That is the nature of our job; we are hired and fired,” he told a post-match conference after yesterday's First Capital Plus League match at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
In a rather frank and lively conference, the coach appeared to be ready for the worst because he thought he had played his part but could not explain what was wrong with his charges.
'Nothing has changed; it is the same players, the same ball, management and coach so I can't explain what is exactly wrong with my boys,' he said.
Sounding a little bit philosophical, he said 'our existence as human beings is to solve problems, so we will keep working till we get the desired results.'
Bashir Hayford said his boys lost because they failed to take their chances and were thus punished for it.
“These are young and inexperienced players, unlike Kotoko who have lots of experienced players, some of whom were even on the bench,” he noted.
An important home win over Liberty Professionals last Saturday had seen Inter Allies for the first time this season climb off the foot of the Premier League table.
Allies beat Liberty 2-1 at the Tema Stadium to lift themselves from the bottom.
Two first half goals put them in the lead before Liberty pulled a goal back in the second half.
Malian import, Niare Benogo, got the opener in the 38th minute before Prosper Kasim increased the tally after 43 minutes.
Michael Appiah pulled one back for Liberty in the 85th minute.
