Kotoko, who lost 1-2 to King Faisal in mid-week were unimpressive, allowing RTU to dictate the pace throughout.
However, Kotoko managed to score first in the 12th minute when Eric Donkor out-paced and picked out Seidu Bancey who made no mistake in planting the ball past goalkeeper Collins Addo.
Undaunted, RTU accepted the challenge and forced Kotoko to play defensively but could not utilise their chances all through the first half.
From recess, Kotoko lifted their game but the dominance was short-lived as RTU took over and harassed the defence of their opponent, forcing a penalty in the process for Aminu Mohammed to level in the eight minutes after the hour mark..
RTU continued to press hard for their first win in the ongoing league but their attackers, Fatau Mohammed, Aminu Mohammed and substitute Emmanuel Kwamina failed to take advantage of chances that came their way.
When all appeared to be heading for a draw, substitute Ofosu Micky latched onto a ball in the 85thminute and sent a long one to darting Michael Akuffo whose shot beat Addo to wrap all points for the Porcupine Warriors.
