At least 8,000 spectators who turned out to watch the game which the Kotoko Oldies won 3-1, had something to cheer about as some of the players exhibited skills an artistry that could match or even surpass the performance of a number of current players.
Striker Isaac Boakye, who fetched a brace for the Kotoko Oldies, was a master on the field until he was substituted after he picked up an injury in the second half.
Even the players who sported protruding stomachs tried to restage some of their old magic much to the delight of the crowd.
The young who never had the opportunity of watching many of the players in their hey day, could not believe their eyes.
It was the Hearts Oldies who shot ahead in the ninth minute through Ayitey Dormon with a fierce shot from 20 yards that caught keeper Sampson Appiah struggling in vain to save.
Before the goal, Kotoko had controlled the better part of the exchanges with Isaac Boakye, Prince Polley and Godwin Ablordey proving a major threat to Hearts Oldies.
Former winger, Yaw Preko and striker Ishmael Addo were the main men in the Hearts forward who kept the heat on Kotoko but Ishmeal was almost always caught in the offside net.
Kotoko worked hard for the equaliser which came on the 21st minute through a counter attack with Boakye turning the keeper inside out before finishing it off.
Godwin Ablordey scored Kotoko Oldies’ second in the 28th minute from a beautiful individual effort.
With two minutes to end the half, Boakye scored again, again going round Felix Archie Mills in post before slotting in.
Hearts Oldies had a penalty in the 83rd minute when substitute keeper Mohammed Odoom fouled Joe Quarcoo in the goal area, but Sam ‘Foyoo’ Johnson fired miles over the bar.
