Kotoko must be wary of Ashgold

Two separate fixtures that could define the eventual winner of this season’s Glo Premier League are set to rock the Berekum Golden City Park and the Sekondi Stadium at Essipon tomorrow in the penultimate round matches of the league.
The race for the title now looks like a two-horse race between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea who are tied on 50 points but separated by goal difference. Both clubs face must-win situations in tricky encounters tomorrow,  with Ashantigold and Aduana Stars holding the key to the championship as they face the title chasers.

Ashgold might be at par in terms of strength with their regional rivals, Kotoko, but under the circumstance where they are contesting a top four finish, this game at the neutral Sekondi Stadium offers the soccer minders a level playing field against Kotoko who are smarting under a home ban from the Baba Yara Stadium following crowd trouble.

On the other hand, the Porcupine Warriors also badly need a victory to remain in pole position and would, therefore, be expected to put up a strong fight to prevent the Obuasi club from derailing their title aspirations.

Certainly Kotoko coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani is under pressure to adopt a winning strategy different from the one which earned his side a 2-2 draw in the first round clash at the Len Clay Stadium at Obuasi, and hope his charges find the scoring touch to earn Kotoko victory.

Chelsea too see another league title in sight and expectedly will take no chances against fourth-placed Aduana Stars in a tough confrontation at Berekum where the home side start as favourites having lost only one out of 14 games

An equally tight game is the home match of Ebusua Dwarfs against another title hopefuls, Medeama SC, at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape coast, while Wa All Stars host 15th-placed Berekum Arsenal at the Wa Park.

Kpando Heart of Lions trek to Tamale to face relegation-bound RTU, Tema Youth welcome King Faisal to another tough battle while at the Tema Stadium.

Hearts of Oak will hope to maintain their reputation as a stronger force when they travel to Bekwai to play New Edubiase United at the Gyamfi Park, while Liberty Professionals and Amidaus Professionals sort it out at the Carl Reindorf Park at Dansoman.
