Former administrative manager of Accra Hearts of Oak, Ashford Tettey-Oku, has expressed surprise at speculations that he has been pencilled for the position of the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) saying he is unamused by the rumour.
Mr Tettey-Oku, who is also the vice chairman of the Premier League Board (PLB), has in recent days been linked to Ghana football’s chief administration job which has been occupied by Emmanuel Gyiman in an acting capacity in the last six years.
Until last season a longtime Administrative Manger of Accra Hearts of Oak, Mr Tettey-Oku says he is unamused by the rumours having been previously linked with the job alongside AshantiGold CEO, Kudjoe Fianoo, when the FA job became vacant after the exit of onetime FA General Secretary, Kofi Nsiah, who was later succeeded by his deputy, Mr Gyimah.
Mr Tettey-Oku told the Graphic Sports that he was comfortable working for the PLB but was shocked to hear his name linked to a position that is already occupied by someone who was still at post.
“This is coming to me as a shock because nobody has contacted me for the job and there is no indication from the FA that the job is available.
“What is the motivation for those fuelling these speculations?” he asked.
“I will rather prefer to support the incumbent General Secretary to succeed and not to be seen to be part of a scheme to topple him,” he added.
On whether he will accept an offer by the FA to take up the job in future if it became available, Mr Tettey-Oku stated: “No one knows what the future holds for me, that is entirely in the hands of God”.
