The MTN/FA Cup Committee has released nominees for this year’s FA Cup awards with former Hearts of Oak striker, Mahatma Otoo, and Michael Helegbe of Kumasi Asante Kotoko in strong contention for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the competition. Also named for the MVP a
Ben Arthur of Amidaus, Joseph Gordon (Medeama), Frederick Acheampong (Rainbow F/C) and Emmanuel Laryea (Tudu Mighty Jets) will vie for the discovery of the tournament.
A statement issued by the committee yesterday named former Asante Kotoko defender, Rashid Sumaila, Godfred Rockson, Kwabena Edusei(Kotoko) and Emmanuel Ofori (Amidaus) for the best defender award, while the goalking award would be contested by Maxwell Ashrifie of Nana FC and Robert Ghansah of Sekondi X1 Wise. The top scoring club award would go to Asante Kotoko
Other nominees were Joseph Lamptey, John Atikese, Samuel Gyasi and Otis Oppong who woul vie for the referee of the tournament and Ibrahim Adam, Ashitey Armah, Safo Adade and Shine Ayitey for the assistant referee of the tournament.
It also nominated Hearts’ coach David Duncan, Evans Adotey (Medeama), Tony Lokko (Amidaus) and Didi Dramani (Kotoko) for the coach of the tournament, while Omar Teni, Linear Addy and W.O. Amo will view for the best match commissioner award.
Special awards would be confered on Michael Ikpoki, former CEO of MTN, Talal Fatal, CEO, Metro TV, Fadi Fatal, CEO, OMP , Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Sky TV and Muti TV.
