The golden generations of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak will evoke memories of the past this Sunday when they clash in the second leg of their annual tie at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The match, organised by Peace Power Sports in collaboration with Yaakson Herbal Centre, is the second meeting between the two sides this year, with the first leg clash at the Baba Yara Stadium ending in a scoreless draw.
This time, however, Asante Kotoko Old Players Association (AKOPA) has predicted a bold 3-0 victory over Accra Hearts of Oak Old Players Association (AHOOPA) at the nation’s premier stadium.
Speaking at a press conference held in Accra yesterday, former Kotoko star, Abdul-Karim Zito, disclosed his side will be built around players who donned the Kotoko jersey between 1980 and 1982.
"We have been training for over a month and on Sunday the likes of Opoku Nti, Albert Asase and Yahaya Kassum will guide the squad to a 3-0 win," said Zito, who featured prominently for Kotoko for 11 years between 1979 and 1990.
One-time Hearts great, Tetteh Chandu, said he was anticipating a cracker that will end in victory for AHOOPA whose team will be composed of players of different generations, including Amankwa Mireku, Ben Adjei and Justice Abban.
The first leg was a draw in Kumasi but Kotoko will fall on our home turf,"Chandu said confidently.
Also present at yesterday’s media briefing was former Hearts centre-back Collins Paha, who featured for the Phobians between 1982 and 1986.
Meanwhile, the match sponsors have promised a free health screening for the first 100 spectators at the stadium.
