Sekondi Hasaacas continued their resurgence after handing Accra Hearts of Oak a 3-0 thrashing at the Sekondi Sports Stadium at Essipon and moved up to the fourth position on the log.
Hasaacas took a commanding lead by the 22nd minute and condemned the Phobians to their third straight away defeat when Augustine Ahinful sealed victory for the home side.
The Giants of the West, who are undefeated at home this year, opened scoring in the 13th minute through Samuel Afful and the forward hit a brace nine minutes later when he capitalised on a defensive blunder by the Hearts defenders, to give his side a 2-0 lead and firmly in the driving seat.
The scoreline reflected Hasaacas’ dominant performance as the Phobians’ failed to beat goalkeeper George Owu, who thwarted efforts by Mohammend Polo’s charges to score.
Clear chances were few and far between for Hearts, and when they came close to scoring they found Owu unyielding as he denied Selasi Adjei a goal in the 52nd minute. Again in the 70th minute, the Hasaacas shot stopper stood between Maxwell Boakye and a goal.
As the Phobians fought back in a late attempt to rescue their game, Ahinful put the game beyond their reach when he scored Hasaacas’ third goal to leave the visitors heart-broken much to the delight of the home fans.
