Autonomous Ghana Premier League: Clubs select representatives for advisory body

The 18 Ghana Premier League (GPL) clubs have selected Hearts of Oak Board Chairman, Togbe Afede XIV; CEO of Inter Allies, Denali Senaye; and John Ansah of Ebusua Dwarfs as their representatives on a committee to advise the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on modalities for the establishment of an autonomous Premier League.

On May 8, the FA's Executive Council announced that a five-member Premier League, following which the clubs selected their three representatives at a meeting on Monday.

GFA president, Kurt Okraku, in a Facebook post that he attended a meeting of all the 18 Premier League clubs where he affirmed the desire of the Executive Council to establish an independently managed Premier League.

"It is a promise we made to our clubs, and it is a promise we intend to fulfil. Happily, the meeting also decided and choose three of our own members: Togbe Afede XIV, Board Chairman of Hearts of Oak; Denali Seneya, CEO of Inter Allies and Brother John Ansah of Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs to serve on a proposed five-man team to work on the modalities for an independently managed GPL.

"They will be joined by a yet to be named two reps from the FA.I really wish the team well,'' Mr Okraku said.

The FA's decision making body is expected to announce its two representatives on the committee.
