Essien to call on President

Michael EssienReal Madrid midfielder, Michael Essien, is expected at the FlagStaff House this morninig to officially invite President John Dramani Mahama to watch his charity game at the Accra Sports Stadium later this afternoon. Essien will be accompanied by his celebrity football friends who were drawn from accross some of the top European clubs to assist in the charity game.

The Ghana international will be leading a host of world football stars to the seat of government this morning for a chat with the President and later ask for his support for the match..

The 30-year-old, who had just come off a successful loan stint with Real Madrid, touched down yesterday with his celebrity football friends  on board a chartered flight.

Kofi Asare Brako, the media co-ordinator for the event earlier in the week said arrangements had been put in place for today’s event which is expected to pull massive crowd to the Accra sports stadium.

A musical concert is schedulled to follow later in the evening and would feature renowned artistes from across the continent at the Accra international conference center.

The Game of Hope is the second football charity event organised by the Michael Essien Foundation.

The first was organised two-years ago in Accra which saw a host of world renowned football stars on display in Ghana.
