AshantiGold suffered their first loss in the Premier League after New Edubiase broke their nine-match unbeaten run at the Gyamfi Park at Bekwai yesterday.
New Edubiase won the match 2-0 to end the Miners unbeaten streak, but the Miners still maintain the third spot on the league table.
The Edubiase lads deserved the win, for they played their hearts out and could have scored more goals but for lack of precision.
Ashgold had themselves to blame after wasting a penalty minutes before the end of first half which could have changed the outcome of the game.
Referee Joseph Lamptey pointed to the spot but Joseph Ato Bisa’s kick was saved by keeper Ben Mensah.
Samad Ibrahim and Bright Mends scored for Edubiase in the 65th and 90th minutes respectively.
