Dream Team, TP Mazembe for Africa United Cup Nov 22

The quality of the Ghana Premier League will be put to the test on November 22 when a 21-man select side known as "Dream Team" clash with 2015 CAF Champions League finalists, Tout Puissant (TP) Mazembe, for the Africa United Cup at the Accra Stadium.

The international friendly, which was officially launched yesterday in Accra, forms part of activities to climax the Mo Ibrahim Annual Governance Weekend between November 20-22.

According to Primeval Media, organisers of the game, the Africa United Cup match which is under the auspices of the Government of Ghana, the Mo Ibrahim Foundation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is aimed at using football as a tool for promoting African unity, as well as showcasing indigenous talents on the continent.

The game will also see four Ghanaians — Daniel Nii Adjei, Solomon Asante, Gladson Awako and Yaw Frimpong— who ply their trade with the Congolese giants returning to face a team that includes the league’s top scorer, Kofi Owusu, Kennedy Ashia and Robin Gnagne for the opportunity to be handed the inaugural Africa

United trophy by President John Dramani Mahama and Sudanese-British mobile communications entrepreneur, Mohamed "MO" Ibrahim.

The CEO of Primeval Media, Larry Opare Otoo, said at yesterday's launch that "gates will open early on the day of the game as the tie will be preceded by musical shows by popular artistes such as Gasmilla and Shatta Wale who have promised to thrill the crowd.

He also announced that token fees ranging between GH¢ 5 and GH¢ 20 will be charged for admission to the game.

The coaches of the Dream Team, Charles Kwabla Akonnor and Augustine Ahinful, said they were looking forward to the opportunity to upset four time CAF Champions League winners, TP Mazembe.

The match kicks off at 4.00 pm.
