Black Stars defensive strong man John Boye makes a return to the national team for the first time since the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, after stand-in coach Maxwell Konadu named the centre-back in his squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixtures against Uganda this weekend.
Boye, who had a difficult World Cup campaign, scoring an own goal in Ghana’s last group fixture against Portugal, has moved from French side Stade Rennes to Turkish club, Erciyesspor.
Also handed a debut senior call up is Saudi Arabia-based Emmanuel Osei Banahene, who will join his in Accra for Saturday’s clash with Uganda in Kampala.
The Stars leave for Kampala on Thursday for the penultimate group fixture of Group E and will wrap up the qualifying campaign with a home game against Togo next week.
