Preparation has hit fever pitch for the Black Stars as they gear up to face South Korea in their last friendly game on Monday ahead of the World Cup.
Earlier in the week, the Ghanaian contingent landed in Miami, USA eager to atone for their ordinary display against Holland in last Saturday’s friendly.
With nerves calm now after the slight jitters over which the 26-man squad will be sent home, the objective now is to fight for a starting role as Coach Kwasi Appiah ponders on who will constitute his first team before playing his first World Cup game against USA.
Similarly, the South Koreans side are hoping Ghana would provide them the necessary test as they face an African side, Algeria, in Group H, which also consists of Belgium and Russia.
Fortunately, South Korea are no minnows in international football now, considering the array of stars who ply their trade all over Europe.
The likes of Di Jong-Won of Borussia Dortmund, Park Chu-Young of Arsenal, Bayer Leverkusen’s Son Heung-Min, Kim Bo-Kyung of Cardiff and QPR’s Yun Suk-Young, who are all stars in their own right.
This is why names such as Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, Kwadwo Asamoah, Asamoah Gyan, Majid Waris and Emmanuel Agyemang Badu might not scare them because they also believe in the potential of their foreign-based players to bring glory to them in Monday’s game.
