The General Manager of Latex Foam, Salem Nahlous, has charged the Black Stars to improve on their two previous performances at the FIFA World Cup and go a step further than they did in South Africa by reaching the semi-final stage at next year’s tournament in Brazil.
Mr Nahlous, who hosted Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Joseph Yammin, when he paid a visit to the company’s head office in Accra yesterday, said the team’s performance at South Africa should serve as a benchmark which national coach Kwasi Appiah and his players must aspire to and surpass in Brazil.
“The minimum I expect from the team is a semi-final berth in Brazil. As long as all Ghanaians keep supporting them they will deliver, it’s not about money,” said Latex Foam boss whose company is an official sponsor of the Black Stars.
The deputy minister accepted the challenge and stated that ahead of the draw for the group stages of the tournament at Costa do Sauipe in Bahia on Friday, the Stars were not thinking of avoiding any big name team “because in order to be in the last four teams you must beat the best teams”.
Mr Yammin also thanked Latex Foam for coming on board to sponsor the upcoming National Unity Games and urged the company to support other lesser known sports in the country.
