The weekend has been interesting for Manchester United and Bayern Munich as they prepare to face each other in tomorrow's Champions League quarter-finals.
With home invincibility lost at Old Trafford, Man United must be wary of the Germans who have proved to be ruthless in this year’s Champions League campaign.
After a week of poor results, United were back to winning ways, beating Aston Villa 4-1 in the Premier League. In Germany, crowned champions, Bayern Munich had their unbeaten run halted as they drew 3-3 away to Hoffenheim in the German Bundesliga.
The weekend results do not guarantee anything for particularly, Man United, who under new manager, David Moyes, have struggled this season and are considered no match for the inform Germans who have set new standards under new coach, Pep Guardiola.
While United have become so unpredictable in performance and have become even beatable at their 'Theatre of Dreams', Old Trafford. Currently, they are seventh on the table and run the risk of losing out in any European club competition. Bayern, on the other hand, have already been crowned German champions with six matches to be played.
Man United have not have the best of results in this year’s Champions League campaign while Bayern have shown they are out to defend the crown, winning comfortably both home and away, the only blot being their 1-1 draw against Arsenal at home in their final group match before reaching the quarter-finals. However, they showed how easily they can win anywhere when they beat the Gunners at the Emirates.
Man United and Bayern Munich have met on nine previous occasions, with Bayern leading the head to head record 3-2. One of United's victories, though, did come in dramatic fashion during the 1999 Champions League final courtesy of late goals from Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are also expected to carry their fight for the La Liga title to the Champions League campaign when they meet in tomorrow’s other quarter-final match at the Nou Camp.
