Nicklas Bendtner

'Arsenal wasted my time'

Wolfsburg striker Nicklas Bendtner has hit out at Arsenal for refusing to let him leave the club in 2013.

The Denmark international returned to Arsenal ahead of the 2013-14 campaign after loan spells with Sunderland and Juventus but made only nine Premier League appearances for the Gunners last term.

Accoding to Bendtner,  he was desperate to leave Arsenal and was shocked that the club denied him a transfer.

"It was a terrible situation. My last year at Arsenal was a waste of time," the forward told Tipsbladet.

"It was worthless that Arsenal did not allow me to leave.

"A club like Arsenal could easily have found someone else to play my role. They would have had no trouble finding a player who could do what they wanted me to do."

Bendtner eventually left Arsenal at the end of his contract at the end of last season, joining Wolfsburg on a free transfer.

He has so far netted two goals in 10 appearances for the Bundesliga club.
