Michael Mensah inflicted more pain on former side Kumasi Asante Kotoko as Wa All Stars beat the defending champions 3-1 at the Tamale Stadium.
The former Kotoko striker scored a brace as All Stars recorded their biggest win over the Porcupine Warriors since joining the elite division in 2007.
The loss ensured Kotoko were without a win in their last three games and further holds back any early title celebrations by the runaway leaders who still have a 10-point advantage over second-placed Heart of Lions, with three games to end the competition.
Yesterday’s game was technically Kotoko's second straight home defeat as they continue to serve a temporary home ban from the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Mensah scored in the 31st and 48th minutes to give All Stars a comfortable 2-0 lead before Seidu Bancey pulled one back for Kotoko in the 58 minute for his 11th goal of the season.
Kotoko's push for the equaliser rather saw them pegged back as young defender Ismail Ganiyu scored for the home side in the 76th minute to hand the Wa side a famous victory.
Kotoko’s woes were further compounded late into the game as Bancey missed a golden chance from a spot kick to leave his side with nothing more to fight for.
