Alhaji Sulemana Braimah, a former board member of Accra Hearts of Oak, says no one should shed tears for the team for losing Ahmed Toure to their rivals, Kumasi Asante Kotoko.Reacting to the drama that saw Toure slip through the grips of the Phobians after reaching a three-year deal with them.
Braimah ,also known as Alhaji Hearts, told the Daily Graphic that Hearts had no excuse in allowing the player to leave their camp to secure his release letter from Cote d’Ivoire, particularly when Kotoko would always be lurking to exploit the least weakness displayed by Hearts.
“If you see a beautiful lady and want to marry her must you allow her to go and tell her parents about your proposals alone without accompanying her?”, he asked.
This is uncharacteristic of Hearts because in the past we succeeded in beating Kotoko in the signings of players such as Charles Taylor, Osei Kuffuor, Kofi Abanga, among many others”, he added.
Alhaji Hearts,who had served in the various management committees of Hearts argued that the whole attempt by Hearts to sign Toure was sloppy to say the least, questioning how the Phobians could reach a three-year deal with the player without parting with a part of the GH¢100,000 agreed upon.
“In any case why couldn’t Hearts write to his club for his release and transfer letter from his last club in Abidjan?, he questioned, adding that these documents are no longer generated manually but electronically.
He said if it was the case that the money to pay part of the enticement of Toure was not readily available, it was possible to explore other sources within the Phobian family.
“All this is happening because there is no elaborate programme for recruitment of Hearts players this off- season and there is no Recruitment Committee.
It’s pathetic and a look at the Hearts Secretariat today shows it all,he added.
