Algeria’s women national football team, Les Fennecs Dames notched a famous one-nil victory over the Black Queens of Ghana on Sunday in their 2014 African Women’s Championship Group B game in Namibia.

The Algerians, the only team from North Africa in the tournament, scored from a fast break late in the second half which saw Naïma Bouhani Benziane round-up goalkeeper Fafali Dumahisi to float a lofty pass for well positioned Horiya Affak to nod home with a flying header.

The Black Queens, wasteful on this occasion, failed to convert any of the many chances that came their way at the Independence Stadium, Windhoek, including 10 corner kicks.

The Black Queens next play South Africa on Wednesday, October 15, who were also beaten one-nil by Cameroon.
