Al Merriekh signs Okrah

Sudanese club Al-Merreikh have offered a two-year contract to former Bechem United wonder kid and reigning Best Player of the local league, Augustine Okrah.

The club agreed to a deal with the player after medical reports from Dubai confirmed the player’s injury would put him out of action for less than eight weeks, after the player was initially assessed by the club’s Turkish doctor.

This was confirmed to the Daily Graphic by Kingsley Owusu Achau, the CEO of the club in an interview yesterday stating that Okrah was expected to join the team in a fortnight’s time.

He said the player had to be flown to Dubai for further checks because although their Turkish doctor did an earlier medical check, because they lacked some equipment he had to be sent to Dubai for further confirmation.

The player, who was on loan to Swedish side BK Hacken, was released after a recurrent knee injury kept him out of play for some time.

But Mr Achau said the Sudanese side were satisfied with the medical report from Dubai and although he was expected to be fully healed within eight week, his recovery could be quicker than expected.

Although he preferred to keep the details of the contract under wraps, he noted that both parties were satisfied with the deal
