AFCON 2015: Kwasi Appiah eyes selection against Algeria

Ghana striker Kwesi Appiah is hoping to be selected to play when the Black Stars clash with Algeria on Friday in their second match of the AFCON 2015 tournament.

The enterprising striker did not play a part in Ghana’s 2-1 defeat to Senegal, but is optimistic that a hard work in training could earn him a role.

Appiah said: “It was always a dream of mine (to play for Ghana) but it has been a real whirlwind. Obviously it's a big difference from my club back in England,” the 24-year-old told the press in Equatorial Guinea. “It's the first experience of the national team for me. Everything is new to me but I've really been enjoying it."

He added: “I hope to play a part in all the (remaining) games. I just have to keep working hard in training and hope I'll be selected.”

Ghana needs at least a draw against Algeria tomorrow to keep their tournament hopes alive.
