It was not the most convincing of performances but Ghana’s senior female football team, the Black Queens, managed a 2-1 win over their Zimbabwean counterparts in their All Africa Games (AAG) qualifier at the Accra Stadium last Saturday.
A 30th minute penalty converted by Agnes Aduako, after captain Mercy Myles was fouled in the penalty box, and an intelligent strike from substitute Samira Suleman in the 56th minute put the Queens firmly ahead before Emmaculate Mbispa scored the consolation for the Brave Warriors of Zimbabwe.
The win gives the Queens an advantage into the April 4 second leg of this first round AAG qualfier in Harare.
