65 Golden Stars to be celebrated

The Golden Jubilee of Ghana's triumph in the 1965 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia will be commemorated at the Sun Lodge Hotel in Accra on December 3 with a fundraising dinner aimed at alleviating the financial pressure on surviving members of the victorious side.

The celebrations, which was launched last Friday in Accra, will be climaxed on December 4 when Kumasi Asante Kotoko play host to Ghana's 1992 AFCON silver medal-winning team led by Abedi Ayew Pele at the Accra Sports Stadium in a bid to complement the fundraising effort.

According to the organisers of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, Despite Group of Companies and Prolux Ghana Limited, the event is meant to honour members of the 1965 team for the high level of patriotism they displayed in retaining the AFCON trophy in Tunisia.
