Tagoe, now with 22-1, 9 KOs, was at his crafty best, despite the resistance of the American at the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa, Cabazon, California, in his first fight in the United States.
He pounded Robles until the American threw in the towel in the ninth round of the scheduled 12-rounder.
Tagoe, managed by the skipper of the senior national team, the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan, under his boxing outfit, BabyJet Promotions, has been promised a shot at the world title before the end of the year .
Baffour Gyan, a former Ghanaian international and senior brother of Asamoah Gyan, who is the president of Baby Jet Promotions disclosed this after the fight.
Baffour travelled and supervised the boxer’s two-week training in Los Angeles before the fight.
He has already held talks with the International Boxing Federation (IBF) on the possibility of Tagoe facing Argenis Mendez or Arash Usmanee for the IBF junior lightweight title.
Mendez and Usmanee clash on August 23 at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino, Verona, New York, for the vacant junior lightweight title.
