The serene atmosphere at Tantra Hill, Achimota, will tomorrow be shaken when boxing leaves its original home in Bukom, to the Unity Park for a five-bout competition.

Top on the bill will be veteran fighter, Michael “Ayittey Powers” Okine who will seek to revive his career and survive the sport when he clashes with Anicet Amoussou from Benin in a 12-round West Africa Light Heavyweight title.

The night dubbed “The Return of the Dragon” will also see famous boxer Braimah Kamoko alias “Bukom Banku” sing live and perform in support of his long time friend and opponent Ayittey Powers.

At a press briefing last Wednesday night at the Unity Park to announce the fight, both boxers said they were ready to rumble on the night and vowed to make minced meat of each other.

Powers expressed the joy of having got another opportunity to fight again after his defeat to Banku in their epic epoch-making bout in May. He vowed to defeat his opponent or end his career.

“I have to beat him to sustain my career, I would not like to end my career so I will do all within my might to defeat him and honour my other two upcoming bouts as part of the contract I signed with Unity Park”, the yellow haired dread-locked fighter stated.

The contract worth GH¢50,000.00 is expected to boost the morale of the Australia-based Ghanaian fighter and boost his chances in a proposed rematch with Kamoko.

His opponent, Amoussou was confident that he was here to cause a shock and will work tirelessly to achieve that. He said it was a great opportunity to fight such an experienced fighter like Powers but noted that it would be more profound to pummel him in the ring.

“He is a great and an experienced boxer, but I know myself, I know what I have done and I know what I can do. I am here to cause an upset and it shall be done on Saturday” he stated.

The promoter of the bout, Alhaji Adamu Fatah, noted that tomorrow’s fight would be his first step in his grandiose agenda to develop the sport to international standards.

“I am in boxing for real, this is the beginning of great things to happen in the sport; I hope I get the state’s and stakeholders support”, he noted.

The night will also feature on the bill the “ Pride of Kwahu”, Emmanuel Danso, alias Kwahu Tyson who will slug it out with Nigerian Basil Osigwe in a light heavyweight contest.

Ghana’s Michael Barnor clashes with Beninois Fattiou Fassinou in a 10- round WBC International Silver Championship title.

Another major fight on the bill  is a Commonwealth Welterweight eliminator between Benjamin Ashley and Joseph Lamster. The winner of the bout according to  the organisers, will meet British Frankie Gavin for the ultimate title.
