Former Bomber campaigns for GABF post

Kumasi-based businessman and boxing administrator, Eugene Nyarko Appiah, will storm Accra this week to stake a claim to the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF) presidency.

The 32-year-old former Black Bomber will be accompanied by a contingent of amateur boxers from the Ashanti Region in his bid to become the first youngest GABF president from the Ashanti Region.

Mr Appiah told the Daily Graphic that he was coming to Accra to embark on a massive campaign to convince the delegates to vote for him.

The stoutly built former pugilist is currently constructing a boxing gym at Santasi in Kumasi for amateur boxers in the Ashanti Region.

He said plans were afoot to construct another gym in Greater Accra should he get elected.

Mr Appiah explained that he was in the competition because he wanted to use his own resources to complement the effort of the government towards reviving amateur boxing.
