Bukom Banku fights Tevdorashvili in an international cruiserweight contest

Barely a week after Ghana’s Emmanuel Tagoe  won his international title bout, the country’s boxing showman, Braimah ‘Bukom Banku’ Kamoko is expected to replicate the feat when he takes on Georgia’s George Tevdorashvili in an international cruiserweight contest at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.

Banku, noted for his flamboyance in the ring, had often flown the flag of the country high in most of his assignments, unfortunately his long absence in the ring could mean rustiness for the 32- year -old who appear anxious to put Ghana on the map again.

With an enviable record of 25-0 (19KOs), Banku who is five years older than his Georgian opponent, is expected to defy that disadvantage to tame his opponent.

Tevdorashvili’s 13-7-3 (8KOs) record does not march  Banku’s sheer ring appearance.

Also on the bill will be female world title contender, Helen Joseph, who will fight Hungarian Malianna Gulyas for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Inter-continental female featherweight title in a special feature.

More attention would be focused on the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Africa super-lightweight title fight between local foes Albert Mensah and Ben Odametey.

Samir Brothers, Bastie and Issah take on  Ademola Faniyi of Nigeria and Robison Omsarashvili of Georgia respectively, while Samuel Amoako fights Tafik Bisuga, and Joshua Okine takes on Alaba Okusote in other bouts.
