Bastie Samir wants to compete at the highest level

Light-heavyweight contender, Bastie ‘The Beast’ Samir, believes he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level, despite not fighting consistently.

Samir, 35, therefore intends to return to the US to revive his career, having struggled to get bouts in Ghana.

The Olympian became more popular after destroying the then undefeated Braimah Kamoko, alias Bukom Banku, during a fierce contest in 2017.

Since that victory, Bastie has fought just three times, a development which has affected his quest to challenge for the world title.

In an interview with the Graphic Sports, Bastie revealed that he was working on renewing his US visa so he could relocate and fight in America where his professional career started.

“I don’t think I am finished,” said Samir. “I still have a lot to offer boxing and I believe I can fight at the highest level.

“The problem here is that I keep struggling to get opponents so I am working on going back to America to revive my career,” he explained.

Samir last fought in March when he retired Felix Mankatah in three rounds, and could make a return into the ring by the close of the year.
