The National Circuit Championship is billed to take place in four regions, including the Western, Volta and Greater Accra regions.

GAA General Secretary, Dominic Kankam, told the Daily Graphic the competition would ensure that athletes in all the participating regions were active and engaged in competitions regularly.

He said the next phase of the competition would take place on April 19 at the Sekondi Stadium at Essipon, while the Volta Region would take its turn on May 17 at the Ho Sports Stadium.

“The final competition to determine the nation’s best athletes in these regions would be held tentatively on June 7 at the El-Wak Stadium,” he told the paper.

According to him, limiting the competition to the four regions was informed also by the availability of synthetic athletic tracks in three of the venues, namely Greater Accra, Western and Ashanti regions.

Mr Kankam explained that the programme had been designed to enable individual athletes to accumulate points from these three competitions with the eight highest point scorers in each event earning an invitation to the circuit final in Accra on June 7.

The circuit comprises four competitions in four selected regions of Ghana—two with synthetic tracks and two without synthetic tracks—in which athletes accumulate points with the goal of making it into the top eight-ranked athletes in their event.
