Work hard to ensure NDC retains power — Inusah

The Minister of Roads and Highways, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini, has urged members of the Tertiary Education Network (TEIN), the tertiary students and youth wing of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), to work hard to ensure that the party retains power in the 2016 general elections.

He stated that the NDC was a party that offered equal opportunity for everyone and so the time and efforts they put in for the growth of the party would be rewarded accordingly.

Alhaji Fuseini, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale Central, was addressing the University for Development Studies (UDS) branch of TEIN on the Nyankpala campus, near Tamale.

He cited himself as a former student leader who served the party during his school days at the university and because the party saw his potential, he was given the opportunity to serve his country.

“Similarly if you serve this great party, your services would not be in vain as the party would also make room for you to serve, develop your leadership potential and serve your nation,” he said.

Alhaji Fuseini urged the TEIN members to remain resolute and steadfast  and also ignore the vile propaganda being waged against the NDC government by its opponents and be ready to defend the government and the party at all times.

He noted that the NDC government had done a lot to improve the living conditions of the people through the provision of infrastructure such as roads, which had facilitated the smooth transportation of people and goods from the countryside.

Alhaji Fusieni mentioned some of the roads under construction in the Northern Region as the Eastern and Central Corridor roads, that from Yendi to Northern Volta and from Damongo to the Upper West Region, which are about 60 and 90 per cent complete respectively.

A Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, who is also the MP for Nanton, said the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) was doing all it could to tag the ruling party with the illegal narcotics (cocaine) trade but it would not wash and urged the students not to let such wicked lies demoralise them, but work hard to ensure the victory of the party at the 2016 polls.

He told the students that the government's commitment towards fighting corruption in the country was unprecedented which had led to a lot of exposure and the prosecution of offenders.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Mr Ras Mubarak, for his part noted that the NDC was the only party that gave equal opportunity to the youth of the country to develop their leadership capabilities and, therefore, urged the students not to be swayed by the lies being peddled about the ruling government by its opponents.

He added that successive NDC administrations from former President Rawlings to John Mahama had always exhibited demonstrable commitments to the empowerment of Ghana's youth by offering them the opportunity to serve the country and, therefore, reiterated the call on them to also work hard for the party to retain power in the next election.

The Deputy Northern Regional Propaganda Secretary of the NDC, Dramani Bukari Ecomog, for his part told the gathering that the government had put in place the right structures to ensure the economic growth and prosperity of the country.
