As part of his campaign tour of the Ashaiman Constituency, Dr. Bawumia paid a courtesy call on the Ashaiman Ewe Chiefs and their elders to listen to their concerns and share his message and policies for the country.
Welcoming Dr. Bawumia to the palace, Togbe expressed special gratitude for what he called an unprecedented visit to the Ewe community.
"I must say that this is the first time any senior politician has visited Ashaiman and singled out the Ewe community for such a visit," said Torgbui Aheto Exa III.
"We will never forget this visit and this gesture," he added.
The Chief, jovially, referenced former Ugandan President Idi Amin, who reportedly told the Queen of England he would "retaliate" for her hospitable reception when she visited Uganda.
"Just as Idi Amin said, we will also never forget your historic visit, and we will retaliate," he remarked, amidst laughter.
He assured Dr. Bawumia that the Ewe community in Ashaiman is large and plays a crucial role in determining electoral fortunes in the constituency.
Commending Dr. Bawumia further, the Chief noted that he has been following the Vice President's campaign and how he conducts himself, urging him to continue promoting unity.
In response, Dr. Bawumia expressed gratitude to the Chiefs and people for their warm reception and reiterated his commitment to building a nation of equal opportunities for all, regardless of ethnic or religious backgrounds.
"Building one Ghana and creating opportunities for all is my priority," Dr. Bawumia said, emphasizing his message of unity.
Dr. Bawumia also took the opportunity to elaborate on several policies he intends to implement as President, as part of his transformational vision.
