We must meet needs of people — Kufuor

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has said that proper national development could be achieved when human and infrastructural needs were combined evenly.

He said as much as there was the need for the development of infrastructure for the smooth operations of the citizenry, it would amount to nothing if the capacity of the people was not developed to harness the opportunities provided by such infrastructure.

No infrastructural development, he said, could replace the needs of the people for the betterment in their living standards.

At the launch of the campaign of the parliamentary candidate for the Akropong constituency, Nana Ama Dokua, he said there could be no meaningful development if the immediate needs of people were replaced by other priorities.

Needs of Ghanaians

The only political party that has shown in deeds, the recognition for the needs of the ordinary Ghanaian was the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that created the needed footprint for national development.

Unfortunately, that footprint, he said, had been ignored by the government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leading to the present hardship being faced by the people of Ghana.

He said the time had come for the election of a president from the Eastern Region and that required that every person turned out in great numbers to vote Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP to power.

Akufo-Addo

The Presidential Candidate of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, said the good people of Ghana were entitled to a better living other than that which had been offered by the President Mahama-led administration of the NDC.

He said although the victory of the NPP had already been ordained by God, there was the need for Ghanaians to be purposeful in turning out to vote for anyone who stood on the ticket of the NPP.

The NPP, he said, had no preference for any independent candidate but that the party stood united in the collective effort to win the election in order to better the lot of all Ghanaians.

Dokua’s resolve to serve

Nana Ama Dokua said her desire was for the redemption of the people of the area from the suffering they were currently undergoing.

Her decision to stand as parliamentary candidate for the people of the area, she said, was born out of the desire to serve them rather than lord it over them.

She, therefore, urged the people to stand united in the quest for change and to ensure that on December 7, they would turn out in their numbers to vote for her and Nana Akufo-Addo.
