Vote for NDC to continue with dev programmes — Veep
The vice-president, Mr Kwesi Amissah Arthur, has called on Ghanaians to support the ruling National Democratic Congress ( NDC) by voting massively for it to consolidate power to continue with its development programmes.

He stressed that the numerous development projects it has started all over the country attested to the fact that they were on course and when given the mandate would do more.
Mr Amissah-Arthur said this at the climax of the week-long celebration of the annual Yam Festival of the chiefs and people of Ejura in the Ejura-Sekyedumasi Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region at Ejura at the weekend.
The Yam Festival is used to give thanks to the ancestors of the lands, the gods of the people and the traditional stool in which the spirit of the state resides for providing the people with a bumper harvest of fresh yams in the year just gone by.
A day will be set aside to perform rituals before the chiefs in the Ejura Sub-Traditional area, including Nana Ejurahene, to signify the commencement of the eating of fresh yams.
Ejura is known to be a food basket in the country as yam and maize are produced abundantly.
The festival is the first to be held since the new Chief of Ejura, Barima Osei Hwedie II, who is also the Adontenhene of the Mampong Traditional Area, was installed under the auspices of the Omanhene of the Asante-Mampong Traditional Area, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.
The vice-president reminded the people that politics was not for war but rather it was for different political parties to bring their divergent views but that did not warrant anybody to fight, insult or degrade his or her opponents.
He noted that when it came to sharing of ideas each person would have a different view but when one expressed his or her view and it did not suit the other we shouldn't fight or insult.
Govt will provide needs
He stressed that the government had used much magnanimity in handling issues in the country and gave an assurance to do more for the enhancement of the people.
He assured Barima Osei-Hwedie II that the government would definitely provide the people of Ejura with their needs which included provision of amenities for the Ejura Hospital and also to upgrade the Ejura Municipal Police Command to Divisional level
He appealed to the electorate to give President Mahama another mandate for him to execute the numerous developmental projects rolled out for the country.
The vice-president commended the King of Swaziland for establishing a cordial and cultural relationship between his country and Ghana.
He also expressed his happiness to the First Queen of Swaziland for delegating a contingent, including dancers from the Kingdom of Swaziland, to attend the August annual Yam Festival celebration and give it a boost.
Commendation
He also commended the Chief of Ejura for his influence in winning the people of Swaziland to his domain and called on the people of Ejura to rally solidly behind the Ejurahene and his elders to help transform the fortunes of the people.
He assured the people that the Ejurahene, known in private life as Enoch Mensah, was working in his outfit as a Principal Protocol Officer, whom he described as a person of upright and untainted character and was of the hope that he would lead them to victory.
The Ejurahene, for his part, commended the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, who was represented by his Ankobeahene and the Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu 11, who was also represented by Nana Apaahenene.
